Final Fantasy XIV deletes nearly 6,000 accounts after detecting in-game real money exchanges
Square Enix has decided to give a great lesson to about 6,000 players of Final Fantasy XIV, its MMORPG version of its main franchise. Specifically, 5,851 users have seen how their account has been deleted between February 25 and March 3.
The reason for this decision stems from the fact that all these players would have carried out activities related to trading using real money . This has been clarified by the company itself through a statement on the title's website. "Real Money Trading and other forbidden activities disturb the balance of the game and as such are banned by the Terms of Service" explains Square Enix.
A division is even shown, since 5,037 accounts were banned for participating in these operations and another 814 for advertising their existence . If you are playing Final Fantasy XIV and want to report these practices, Square recommends submitting "a report using the in-game command [System Menu] -> [Technical Support] -> [Contact Us] -> [Report Cheats]".
The developer ending by warning that "we will continue to take strict regulatory action against any account with confirmed involvement in RMT or illegal activity; players should be careful to stay away from any action that violates the Terms of Service."
It is likely that many of these exchanges have been made for various items such as mounts, PvP ranks, items or complete accounts with which to access the desired parameters easily. The future of the game looks promising, as the Endwalker expansion is scheduled to hit the field in the fall of 2021 for PS4, PC and Mac.
