EA banned FIFA fan for life for insulting black soccer player on Instagram

"This behavior is unacceptable and we will not tolerate it."

Company EA Sports lifetime banned 18-year-old fan of football simulators from Ireland Patrick O'Brian in a series of games FIFA for racist remarks. The incident leading to such a harsh punishment occurred last year when Patrick lost another match while managing the team that included Ian Wright, the legend of London 's Arsenal. After that, the frustrated gamer went to the real Ian Wright's Instangram account and sent him a series of offensive messages. The case even led to a trial in which the guy pleaded guilty and apologized to Wright... The court, unlike EA Sports, left O'Brian unpunished.

“Ian Wright  is part of the EA Sports family. We appreciate his support and want to repay him in kind. Last year, he received a terrible racist attack from a player who lost a match in FIFA 20. The behavior of the player was absolutely unacceptable and we will not tolerate this. Racism must be stopped” said EA Sports spokesman David Jackson.

Wright himself thanked the company for such a reaction and said that EA Sports even apologized to him for the fact that the offending player came to him in the comments because of their game.

“This will be a message for everyone. Whether it's race, gender, or anything else, discrimination cannot be tolerated. Now that guy is banned. Lifetime. And you know, no matter how small it may be, it proves that such actions can lead to consequences” the footballer summed up.
